mapping natural carbon sinks globally

Images from space have helped us to better understand our world for quite some time, including the natural spaces we live in. Yet, this view has been with a limited resolution. Our goal is to change that.

We will not only show where vegetation can be found, but also what type and in which density. In other words, we want to measure the actual biomass. It’s an indicator for the abundance of life, or the lack of it. And it is also an indicator for the life-processes that lead to the removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
